Metroid Zero Mission vs. Super Metroid and remaking the original Metroid

Metroid zero mission is a remake of the original Metroid made back in the late 1980’s on the Nintendo entertainment system which was remade in 2004 on the Gameboy advance. Both the remake and the original are the first installments of the Metroid game series. Its at basic the main character Samus Aran’s which we all know at this point by now if you know anything about Metroid was originally meant to be a guy was later made a girl due to a decision made by the creators of the first Metroid game, and marks the first big adventure in the Metroid timeline which is shown on various games and anime alike(the anime being made after the first Metroid game.)Here’s a link to a video telling you everything about this game here

It has multiple difficulties and different ending as you might see in the previous or the this next video depending depending on how you complete the game. (8 in total.) –

This futuristic sci-fi shares aspects of that of an older game that’s later in the Metroid timeline Super Metroid.

Super Metroid also known as Metroid 3 does share aspects with other Metroid games ,but none like this one. Super Metroid was made in 1994 on the super nintendo entertainment system. It like the original Metroid took place on the same world Zebes where as the previous title in the Metroid timeline known as Metroid 2: return of Samus which also had a remake made back in 2017. on the original Gameboy did not. Since it was on a newer console it was obviously able to do more stuff unlike the older Metroid 1. It like a lot of other games on the super Nintendo had super slapped on the front of it. I suppose you could almost call it a remake to the scale that zero mission remakes Metroid too if it weren’t for the 5 minutes of text, clips from previous games and just like a couple of minutes out of several hours of game play probably unless your a speed runner(some one goes through a game really fast at basic.) or something like that. If you watch this you’ll see a lot of things about this game (if you want might theirs more to get out of zero mission than this in order to understand things better…)-

The only other Metroid game that’s in a 2d plane like other than the games I’ve mentioned is Metroid fusion(also Metroid 4.) It is the only other game to have the ability to wall jump other than this game. At least before Metroid fusion. Like this game zero mission you have the ability to wall jump, and the only one that you can do it infinitely on one wall. In Metroid fusion you can only do this between two walls unless you use a method that only tool assisted speed runners(people who use various programs to create a run through a game that’s probably in-humanly possible.) can really do at all for the most part which involves a combination of bombs. Its almost frame perfect. Its possible though with maybe top runners though. Certainly harder than anything in super Metroid or Metroid zero mission. The original Metroid probably didn’t have a chance to being able to wall jump at all. Super Metroid shares just about every ability that you’ll find in zero mission. The original Metroid didn’t have many of the ability’s that you have in those games. They added new story, new enemy’s,new bosses, and new ability’s/items in this remake. Much of the physics of this game feels so similar to Super Metroid’s. Although their are very few things they do differently other than like graphics and almost no glitches or bugs compared to super Metroid. Like the fact theirs no run button and the speed booster works automatically if your moving in one direction without stopping where the speed booster in super Metroid you have to hold down the run button here as well(if you don’t have speed booster you’ll still go faster than normal ,but just not nearly as fast. Plus you can’t do certain things without it.) Perhaps the most notable thing is sequence breaking. I mean sure the developers gave you more things you could do than Super Metroid ,but Super Metroid had way more glitches( a sudden, usually temporary malfunction, irregularity , or something unexpected messing up in/of equipment like in/of a computer.) and sequence breaks(typically in a video game its something out of order of a path your typically expected to go.) that you could do to get this items or that item whether its faster or not(most cases it is.) without the developers knowing or intending it before the game was sold to people. While their are other games in the Metroid series might do this. A lot of times in a first person 3d game or just not as much stuff. A lot of times they didn’t intend it either when the game was released. Not as much as these two. These games are kind of open when you first start up a new file too. whether you knew where things were you freely choose where you wanted go. I mean their are times that you might have to back track at times ,but the world is very interconnected as well. Just a number of things I could go on about these 2 games. Here’s a few videos on some sequence breaks I’ve done in super Metroid if you feel like watching that(I show off a bunch in the first one and go over a lot of them.) –

you go through an area with a suit without suit protection that would normally hurt you without it(kind of a path you could go too…)

you can go to this part of this area way earlier(some have done it earlier than I did in this video…)Kind of show one of the ways how…

charging the speed booster quicker than normal, and more…

Speed running is very popular in the Metroid series as well. Two of the biggest games are Super Metroid and Metroid zero mission. Specially super Metroid. The video I did about all general stuff of Super Metroid I went a route getting a 100% items that would qualify as one. One of the many categories that you can do completing the game in a certain way. I recently started getting into some myself. I’ll come back to Super Metroid eventually. I know I’m capable of much better in this game. Its evident in the videos I’ve showed so far. Super Metroid on a category with a particular glitch has been completed in about 7 minutes real time without picking up a single item. One of the fastest games people have ran out their. Tool assisted speed runs probably faster. Metroid zero mission has only been completed in somewhere around 30 minutes tool assisted ,but this is only if you try to complete the game with a certain item percentage. If you do that on something like 9% hard item completion though depending on what time you go for its probably harder to do series of glitches and inputs over and over for a certain amount of time ,and complete the game without getting hit by probably just about every single boss is probably harder than doing one glitch not fighting any bosses and with obviously like 2 inputs compared to 1000’s. Stuff gets pretty competitive. Probably compares to certain professional sports ,with some things. Here’s a playlist in case your interested in seeing stuff like that. One of the games I mentioned here actually.

I honestly think Metroid Zero Mission is easier than Super Metroid most of the time depending on what you do. It would make since though ,because theirs an ending for hard mode completing the game with 15% item completion. I’ve kind of done better than that already just about… if you count tool assisted speed runs probably(I mean in my own time without recording. I used to do that. Since I tried actually putting up runs I really starting trying you know.) Although that was about as hard or harder even so probably. I’m gonna try going for 9% normal even though which is harder than that. Their are a few reasons why I do this. I’ll sit down and play a video game normally without worry about how fast I go through any day. Specially if I’m new to it. For a lot of people super Metroid is their favorite Metroid game. Some people actually say its one of the best games out there. I don’t fulling agree ,but its up their I suppose. I don’t think zero mission is as good as Super Metroid. Its probably in terms of design better though(you know because its not as buggy and broken at all.) Of course a game I feel like isn’t good based on how unbroken it is if your just talking about what is to you in your life. You know stuff about memory’s or childhood or something. Their are other things like story, game play, game feel you know. A bunch of things that makes a game good to you. When somethings good it doesn’t always mean what you think it means. Could just mean if somethings inhuman, based on society, nostalgia or something. Whatever I don’t need to get into that subject. There are things that Super Metroid does better though actually like the number of bosses,mini-bosses, better music(and more music i think),and well I suppose it does something cool(something they do that makes you feel a certain way the first time you see it unlike zero mission where they really don’t do that.) at the end of the game. If your into Metroidvania type games(without aspect of Castlevania I’m pretty sure. I think that’s at basic why they use that word anyways which is to describe the way the games similar to other games. A fusion of Castlevania and Metroid some what. That’s why I said type. a genre is what metroidvania is I think.) then these are not bad games. Their are a lot of things to like probably. They are certainly probably not coming out with a Metroid 5 anytime soon. Took me a minute to realize that for some reason. They’ll sure make remakes of those previous games or continue to put out prime games(An offshoot of the series that may or may not be cannon. Still good games though. mostly first person.) Makes me wonder where Metroid’s gonna be in a decade. Oh well I guess not everything doesn’t last forever. A long time maybe ,but not forever. Super Metroid will probably eventually get a remake though. I mean return of Samus got a remake so I’m pretty sure super Metroids next.
